Albion Sumrell 

Executive Director

Albion is responsible for program oversight, design and implementation of the School Year Program and Summer Academy, student recruitment, fundraising, and evaluation. He holds a B.A. in psychology and French studies from Emory University and a Master of Education in School Counseling from Teacher’s College at Columbia University. He is currently working on his Ph.D. in Educational Administration at the University of New Orleans.

Tina Totorico

Development Officer 

Tina is responsible for assisting with the design, implementation, and management of all development initiatives. She holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of Alabama and a Master of Business Administration from the University of New Orleans. 

Daria Russell

Summer Dean of Faculty/Middle School Program Coordinator

Daria is responsible for the daily operations and design of the Summer Academy including program design, curriculum development, and staff recruitment, training and management. She also assists in planning and overseeing the middle school program during the school year. Daria holds a B.A. in Communication with an emphasis in Media Management from Howard University. In addition to Breakthrough, she works at Alice Harte Elementary School.

Alana Peck

High School Program Coordinator

Alana Peck works with Breakthrough’s high school students and their families. Her primary responsibilities include academic and social support as well as college and career guidance. Alana holds a B. A. in Sociology from Xavier University and is currently working on her Ph.D. in Sociology at LSU.
